This is another LIMITED EDITION Ralph release, 1000 copies only, hand numbered. As you might've guessed this is the Instrumental version of 2005's Animal Lover recording. Voice of Midnight

The newest major studio release from The Residents is available for PRESALE. This is on MUTE again, and we expect a very lovely hardbound package as usual. For The Voice of Midnight, The Residents have adapted a short story, Der Sandmann, by Prussian writer E.T.A. Hoffman. The story was first published 190 years ago.
On the surface, Der Sandmann is a simple story of madness. However, it has been recognized as addressing the conflict between the age of reason and the romantic era by scholars who have studied the tale. It has been adapted, in parts, by Jacques Offenbach for his opera The Tales of Hoffman, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for The Nutcracker Suite, and for the ballet Coppelia. Freud extensively interpreted Der Sandmann in his famous essay Das Unheimilche in 1919. Freud was fascinated by Hoffman's obsession with eyeballs.
The protagonist of the story is Nathaniel (Nate) who carries a deeply-seated fear that the childhood fable character, the sandman, is stalking him. The character of Nate is superbly performed by Corey Rosen who first worked with The Residents on River of Crime in 2006. Nate's fiance, Clair, a steadfast realist, is performed by Gerri Lawler who also worked on River of Crime as well as Tweedles. Long time Residents collaborator Carla Fabrizio performs the role of the other "woman," Olympia.
The Residents embody the other characters, and perform the music.

Somewhere between 1994's The Gingerbread Man and 1998's Wormwood, a Residents album disappeared.
Actually, it didn't disappear, it was usurped. The Residents received an offer to write some music for a television series and they couldn't pass up such an intriguing opportunity. Suddenly the album they were writing became a wholly different project. That album, which had a working title of "That Slab Called Night," was to be a concept project based on the effect darkness has on perception, the world of the shadow. Though never completed, The Residents thought it would be insightful to sort through the now over ten years old music and create something new...Night of the Hunters. 1000 copies available, hand numbered.

Mute has done it again. Another beautiful hardbound book release from The Residents vast back catalog. This is the Freak Show release, as you've heard it before, plus a lovely new full color hard bound book with wonderful graphics from the Dark Horse graphic novel and a bonus DVD with footage (never before seen) from the Freak Show DVD (which was never completed due to the unfortunate passing of Jim Ludkte, the animator for the project.) Tweedles!!

Cube E Box Set

This is a 3 disc set. The first 2 audio discs are a complete, unedited recording of the live Cube E show. The 3rd disc is a DVD containing all of the existing footage of the Cube E show, including video taken of show rehearsals in SF, Lincoln Center, and TV appearances. This is the be all-end all collection of all things Cube E. Included in this set (a 7"x7" box) are the 3 discs, a 40 page full color booklet with never before published photos of the Cube E show, and a fancy inner box containing a handkercheif, just like the ones sold and thrown into the audience during that tour. This is limited to only 1500 hand numbered copies and will definitely go fast. DVD is NTSC/Stereo.
